Quarter 4 Week 1

Hello Class:

This weeks post is all about Figurative Language. In your blog post, mention an example of Figurative Language that you have found in one your books that you have read.

Some examples of figurative language: Metaphor, simile, Hyperbole, Personification, Imagery, Onomatopoeia, Alliteration, etc. . Make sure to tell which example of Figurative Language you found!

Remember your post should include at least 2 complete sentences and place your number on the end of the post

  1. I'm reading the Mockingjay, the third book to the Hunger games sequel. I read about how President Snow smells of roses. It is a metaphor in this way but sometimes they use it as a simile by comparing him with the roses using like or as.

  2. At home I'm reading the book called Out of My Mind. It said that after the competition, Melody cried a river of tears because she couldn't go and her friends left her. This is an example of a hyperbole because it's an over exaggeration. #6

  3. I am reading the book The Lighting Thief, The sentence is "They looked like TV wrestlers, muscular, with beards and long hair." This is an example of a simile because it is comparing the two guys to wrestlers and has the word like in it. #3

I just finished my book Dork Diaries Tales of a Not-So -Happy Heartbreaker, the sentence is "Brianna said in an aful fake French accent that sounded more like a six-year-old Arnold Schwarzenegger". I think it is a simile because it is comparing one thing to another and it is using the word like.#12

  5. My book is Hot Shot and the figurative language is imagery. I chose imagery because it said the crunch of a cookie and the slurp of lemonade , it made me really want cookies and lemonade. #8

  7. I'm reading The Journey Back. In the book it said, "my dad is a wild animal when he drinks." It is an example of a metaphor because it compares his dad to a wild animal without using the words like or as. #21

  11. My book is called 13 curses . In the book Tanya dogs keeps getting fatter and Tanya say she didn't give her dog anymore food so the bowl must be filling its self. That
    Personification because dog bowls can't fill them self #13

  17. My book that I am reading is Catching fire. In Catching fire there is a part that says " a car comes to life LIKE the purr of a cat " so it is Camparing a car to a purr of a cat using the word like so it would be a simile. #7

  18. I am reading Conspiracy 365 at home. The sentence is, My brain felt it had been wrenched out of my head, shoved in the washing machine, then shaken out and shoved back into my skull again. My example is a hyperbole because it is exaggerating.#4

  24. I am reading the Hunger Games. My example is Hyperbole. I don't know Haymitch but I've seen him often enough in the Hob, tossing handfuls of money on the courter of the women who sells white liquor.
